What is
Faux painting?
In a practical definition, it is the application of paint or paint
related products in any method other than a standard brush and roll.
This can include trowel finishes, plasters, lambs wool creations,
rag finishes, and the list can go on.
In a technical definition, it is the recreation in paint of natural
occurring materials such as marble and wood grain. Which
leaves out a lot that is commonly referred to as faux painting.
To be truly correct, all other painting other than brush and roll is
Decorative Painting. This definition is strictly adhered to in
Europe, but in the United States often times the words Faux Finish
and Decorative Painting are used to mean the same thing. |
